PRIVATE TRIP TO BAIKAL LAKE

Meet & greet at the Airport and transfer to the hotel for check-in and a short rest.

In the afternoon – Russian lunch at a local restaurant followed by Irkutsk city tour. You will see:

  • Russian Orthodox churches and a Polish Cathedral (the only Siberian Gothic-style building).
  • Many small one- and two-story wooden houses or cabins that are decorated with “wooden laces” (hand-made carvings) as well as modern constructions of the 20th century.
  • Angara river boulevard, the place from where Irkutsk has started.
  • Monument to the Russian Tsar Alexander III.
  • You will visit the Central Market with local foods, seasonal vegetables and fruits.

Transfer to the hotel.

After breakfast – transfer to the small village of Listvyanka, located on the shore of the Baikal lake.

The highway from Irkutsk to Lake Baikal goes through picturesque taiga-forest up and down the high hills. En-route you will visit Museum of Wooden Architecture Taltsi on the bank of Angara river. Taltsy is an open-air museum of Siberian traditional architecture with unique collection of 17th – 19th century’s cultural monuments of the three local peoples: Russians, the Burats and the Evenks.

In the early afternoon – lunch at the family of local farmer in the village near Angara river.

You will stop by the viewpoint facing the legendary Shaman Rock, located at the source of Angara river, the only river flowing out of lake Baikal.

In the late afternoon – check-in at a hotel.

After breakfast – transfer to Museum of Lake Baikal.

You will learn about the origin and wild life of the lake, have a glimpse of the lake’s underwater world thanks to the unique Limnological Aquarium. You will be able to observe omuls, graylings, breams, sturgeons, goldilocks, pikes, crucians as well as crustaceans, sponges and mollusks in the conditions close to natural.

At 11:30 – you will take a boat ride across the lake to the village-station Port Baikal –beginning of old rail way.

In the early afternoon – lunch at a local fish restaurant, followed by a visit to the local ancient church of Saint Nicolai.

Further on you will visit local fish market to see a variety of hot- or cold-smoked and salted local fishes, as well as souvenirs of natural stone.

Late afternoon – time to relax

Early breakfast followed by the transfer to pier.

08:10 – departure to Olkhon island by the regular ship Cometa (available on Wednesdays and Saturdays from June 9th till Aug 31)

You will cross a half of Baikal Lake and arrive at the pier at 12:20.

Transfer to the wooden guesthouse in the buryat village Khuzhir.

Lunch at the guesthouse followed by the walking tour of the village with a stop by the Shaman Rock.

Late time to relax and have dinner.

After breakfast – full-day tour of the Olkhon island, incl. picnic lunch, by Russian jeep.

You will be back at the guesthouse in the late afternoon in time for relax and get ready for dinner.

Breakfast at the guesthouse and return transfer to Irkutsk: first by ferry from the island and then by car or van.

En route – lunch at a local café (Buryat meal)

Arrival at the hotel in Irkutsk in the late afternoon.

After breakfast – transfer to the Airport in time for your departure flight.
